NON-SKID ALUMINUM PLATES
1.0 SURFACE PREPARATION
A. All edges and surfaces to receive non-skid coating shall be prepared by surface grinding using an aluminum oxide disc. The grinding shall result in an abrated surface with no consistant pattern.
A. Non- skid shall be applied via a plasma stream deposition process spraying the molten alloy metal on to the prepared surfaces. The deposition shall be sprayed in a random stacked cross hatch matrix. The matrix shall be applied to an approximate thickness of 0.030″ to develop a coarse and aggressive surface. The extreme temperatures of this method assures maximum mechanical interlock and adhesion to the base plate, minimum bonding strengthh of 2,200 psi.
B. Apply this ceramic core to a coverage rate of 14 SF/#
C. Average coefficient of friction shall be 1.1.
3.0 TYPE OF WIRE
A. Aluminum wire developed for this process, “Thermion TH605” or Equal, forming a file-hard (60 Rc) martensitic surface
4.0 SLIP RESISTANCE
A. The non-skid surfaces shall be treated to meet or exceed the Static Coefficient of Friction values as mandated by these agencies; OSHA, 0.050 COF. NFPA, Section 13-7.5, 0.68 COF, wet conditions. ADA, 0.60 for flat surfaces, 0.80 for ramps/inclined surfaces.
5.0 MANTLE TRANSITION PLATES
All transition or deck plates by Mantle Industries presently utilize this non-Skid.
